Sacramento Beer Week Highlights

The third annual Sacramento Beer Week gives you the opportunity to try hundreds of beers from your backyard and from around the world from February 24 to March 4.  This year is marked by several additions to the family of Sacramento breweries and a number of larger events catering to thirsty beer fans from Sacramento and beyond. The Sacramento Brewers Showcase and Capital Beerfest will be held at Cal Expo on February 25th.  Enjoy almost 100 breweries, local food and funky DJs.  Ride the free buses from Light Rail.

Streets of London in Midtown will hosts events EVERY day of SBW, starting with a Sierra Nevada Tap Takeover on February 24th and ending with Duvel Glass Night on March 4.  Streets of London’s West Sac location will be offering food pairings and a different Pint Night (purchase beer keep the pint and $1 off refills ) on each day of Beer Week.  Enjoy a variety of brews including Pliny the Elder (2/25) Belhaven Oatmeal Stout (3/1) and New Belgium Biere de Mars (3/2).

Every night, Bonn Lair features beer and food from a different country.  Get your passport checked, visit every country and you qualify for great prizes at the end of the week!

On February 23rd, join the Northern California Brewers Guild at the Sacramento Grand Ballroom for The Art of Beer, an exhibition of two fine arts: photography and beer. Enjoy a selection of rare California beers while appreciating a side of many of your favorite breweries that you have not seen with photos by Rawi Nanakul.

On Feb 27th, One Speed hosts the Two Rivers Skee-Ball Tournament.  $35 registration fee includes 2 slices, 2 cider pints and a logo pint glass.  First prize is a keg of delicious Two Rivers Cider!

On Feb 28th, Bows and Arrows will have a free screening of an episode of Michael Jackson’s The Beer Hunter.   Enjoy beer from Anchor Brewing as a Jackson tours Northern California and explores our rich craft beer history, focusing on the legendary Anchor Brewing Company.

On February 28th, Pangaea Two Brews Café welcomes David Walker, owner of Firestone Walker Brewing Company. Enjoy several of their rare barrel-aged offerings and hear how Firestone Walker has grown to be one of the most award-winning breweries in California.

On February 28th, The Sacramento Natural Foods Co-Op will present The Art of Beer and Cheese Pairing.  Join Chef Dio as he leads participants though a half dozen cheeses from Cypress Grove paired with beer from Eel River and Mammoth Brewing.

Ink Eats and Drinks will host a Beer Cocktail Event with Bison Brewing Company on Wednesday February 29th from 6-8PM

Old Sac will host their Beer Fest Pub Crawl: 9 Bars, 9 Brews from 7-11PM on Thursday, March 1st. Tickets are available at participating venues or check www.facebook.com/oldsacbars

On March 1st, The Shady Lady hosts Chico Night.  Choose from a variety of Sierra Nevada beer for only $3.  Sport either Chico or Sierra Nevada apparel, and get another $1 off with a chance to win great prizes.  Music from Chico’s own Perpetual Drifters.

On March 1st, Rubicon throws their 3rd annual Gravity Festival with 15-20 casks of the freshest, real ale available from across the state.

On March 1st, The Shack hosts their legendary Belgians vs Americans night.  Enjoy more than a dozen beers as Belgian beers go toe-to-toe with their American counterparts.

On March 3rd, Mulvaney’s B&L presents Bike on a Pig. This event honors Steve Rex in conjunction with the North American Handmade Bicycle Show, benefits SABA, and features beer from Ruhstaller.

The Sacramento Arts Council, Sacramento Press and Dad’s Kitchen present the Sacramento Beer & Chili Festival at Southside Park on March 3rd.  Teams will compete to determine the best chili cooks in Sacramento while a dozen local breweries provide libations.

Sacramento Turn Verein presents a Belgian beer festival to support their handball program for local youth.  More than a dozen breweries will present their Belgian and Belgian-style beers.  March 3rd at 1pm.

On March 3rd, Samuel Horne’s Tavern presents an All American Funk and Sour Festival.  Sixteen sour beers on tap with tasting flights available.  Breweries include Russian River, The Bruery, New Belgium, Lost Abbey and more.

Pyramid Alehouse present Beer Judging 101.  Grand Master Beer Judge David Teckam will show you the differences between beer styles with a variety of world class samples.  Two sessions will be offered on Sunday, March 4 for  $25.
