Bittersweet celebration
Posted on May 29, 2009 – 11:36 AM | by livmoe
After a series of trials and tribulations, Niki and Jake, owners and operators of the Javalounge, have decided to bow out of the project and move on. It fills me with great sadness to have to report this as I have looked forward to seeing both of their smiling faces nestled amongst the Skinner murals and coffee pots in search of my morning caffeine fix these past few years. Saturday night will be their last night at the helm and they will be hosting a killer show featuring the Bananas(!), the Foureyes, and Woodpussy. Come out and show them your support.
Good luck you guys!

yeah, maybe if they didn’t ban every one they would have done more business.

glad to see that sacramento’s jerk population is still alive and well.
i can only assume based on this mean spirited and cowardly comment made on a post about a family owned business taking a hit that you were probably one of the banned. judging by the above i’m sure it was well deserved.
if you feel the need to continue these anonymous jabs i will delete them.

Liv, I wasn’t quite sure from your post if the Javalounge’s doors will be closing tomorrow night or if the current owners are moving on, and the coffee shop will stay open under new management. I want to re-blog this info on my blog, but I don’t want to get it wrong.

i am sooooo bummed! these are really really good people who created an awesome space. Sacto will be dimmer without Javalounges’ bright light.

Oh no! Javalounge isn’t closing, right? Wishing Niki and Jake the best of luck!

Such a bummer. I’m kicking myself for not spending more money there.

This is 3rd hand info, so hopefully some journalist-type can check, but apparently the Java Lounge is re-opening this weekend with different owners, but with Niki & Jake still involved somehow.

According to the Java Lounge MySpace page, it’s reopening June 6th. Hopefully, it is!

if all goes well the scenario will be that a new partnership (including Niki and Jake) will take over Java Lounge this week, reopening on June 6!
Fingers crossed!
