Giddy-up! Bulls Restaurant and Bar’s One Year Anniversary

Want to know one way to make a hot summer night even hotter? A mechanical bull. That’s right, tomorrow night (Thursday, June 16th) is Bulls Restaurant and Bar’s one year anniversary and they’re having a party that will make you want to dust off your cowboy boots you wore for Halloween last year and get in on their all-night drink specials and $1.50 carne asada tacos. If you’re not ready to cowboy-up and actually ride the bull, you can still enjoy some drinks while listening to everyone’s favorite guilty (or not so guilty) pleasure, country music. So come out and, as they like to say, get “bucked at Bulls”! Anniversary celebration from 7pm-close.

Be sure to send in your popsicle flavors…

Incoming! Malo, Esteban Villa, Los Elegantes, Blanca Sandoval Saturday, 6/18

It’s an afternoon of Royal Chicano Air Force pride honoring two elder statesmen of the Chicano Arts Movement, José Montoya and Phil Esparza. This outdoor show is a stoned soul almost-summer picnic on June 18 with the legendary low rider, old school R&B Latin Rockers, Malo. Guitarist Jorge Santana leads the group, along with tough singer Arcelio Garcia and a pile of percussion, horns and sunshine. Exuberant octogenarian and legendary RCAF activist/artist Esteban Villa (with a brand new CD, Habanero Honey), along with funky dance band Los Elegantes, Latina rocker Blanca Sandoval and DJ Nightfly jam Cesar Chavez Plaza from noon to 6 PM in an annual concert promoted by La Raza Galería Posada. $15 advance ( www.brownpapertickets.com ) and $20 at the gate, but if you stop by in person at the Midtown gallery at 1022 22nd St., they might still be offering a offering a special MidMo deal. – O McSorley
